Artist: Barbara Bosco
For over ten years, my main focus was Eggs-quisite, decorating Ukrainian Pysanky and eggshell jewelry, which brought loads of people, artists, and the art fair circuit into my daily activities. Honoring my Ukrainian heritage was a wonderful experience; however, my love for all of Nature has led to my current designs. Totally in awe, I begin my work each morning.
Several summers ago, I found two dead Monarch butterflies on the road near our home. I brought them to my studio, just to admire their beauty. One day, on a whim, I decided to cut a small oval from one of the wings. I first tried to glue to an eggshell, but soon discovered the wonderful translucence, directly on the Sterling. Enchantment followed!
I had my family and friends on a butterfly lookout....only "deceased" ones, of course, when I decided to see if there was a source, by searching the Internet. I soon learned of actual butterfly farms, and have received shipments of "naturally expired" butterflies from all over the world.
Alone in my studio, I ooh and aah as I complete each new piece, and feel overwhelmed at the captured beauty of the many diversified species. Because it was the Monarch butterfly that inspired my work, a portion of the purchase price from each Monarch item sold will be donated to Monarch Watch and Michoacan Reforestation Project.
Joy in wearing, can never overshadow my joy in creating, and I thank you, Mother Nature! Please share in my excitement and visit our Winged Beauty Collection today.
